This vintage 1980s Moon Bag was purchased in Manhattan by my Great-Aunt, who lived there her whole life. She passed it down to me in 2001 & its been in my collection since. Hate to part with it, but trying to downsize & Im sure someone will fall head over heels for this beauty, too. Its been kept in closet storage for decades & is in VG condition (SEE PICS for minor aging on face plate). Never seen another panel in this design.
Orig. sold for $175 in 1983 (about $550 in 2024).

Moon Bags, designed by artist Patricia Smith in Milwaukee, Wi, 1st debuted in the late 70s. Characterized by their large enamel/lacquer, hand-painted, exchangeable 'plate' which attached to the front, they typically came in a med sized clutch. Not mass produced, each plate style only had a ltd production run. Sold in exclusive boutiques during the early 80s, Smiths bags were sought after then & today: truly a piece of fashion history.
